Overview

  • A Vietnamese visa is a document issued by a competent Vietnamese authority that allows a foreign national to enter Vietnam.

  • An electronic visa is issued through an electronic transaction, is valid for no more than 90 days, and is issued for either a single entry or multiple entries.

  • An electronic visa is issued to a foreign national who holds a passport and does not fall under Clauses 1, 2, 3, and 4 of Article 8 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam.

  • Fees already paid may not be refundable once an application has been reviewed or submitted, and a refusal by the authorities does not by itself create a refund obligation for TOPTOUR. (TOPTOUR terms of service, section 8).

  • The electronic visa costs 50 USD for a single entry and 90 USD for multiple entries. This is the total you pay for one application, and it already covers the entire cost of processing the application and the TOPTOUR service fee; nothing further is charged.

  • A foreign national travelling on an electronic visa must enter and leave Vietnam through the international border gates decided by the Government (the list of border gates).

Conditions for issuing an electronic visa

  • The applicant is a foreign national who is outside Vietnam and wishes to enter Vietnam.
  • They hold a passport and do not fall under Clauses 1, 2, 3, and 4 of Article 8 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam.
  • They are not in any of the cases not yet permitted to enter under Article 21 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam.

Rights and obligations of foreign nationals

1. Under the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam, foreign nationals who enter, leave, transit or reside in Vietnam have the following rights (see the full wording).

2. Under the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam, foreign nationals who enter, leave, transit or reside in Vietnam have the following obligations:

  1. Comply with Vietnamese law, and respect the cultural traditions, customs and practices of Vietnam.
  2. Keep their activities in Vietnam consistent with the purpose they entered for.
  3. Carry their passport or international travel document and their Vietnamese residence papers while travelling, and present them when a competent authority asks.
  4. A permanent resident who leaves Vietnam to settle permanently in another country must hand the permanent residence card back to the immigration control unit at the border gate.
  5. Present the passport or international travel document and the residence papers to the accommodation provider, so that the temporary residence declaration is made as required.

  • After entering on an electronic visa, a foreign national who is invited or sponsored by an agency, an organization or an individual in Vietnam may be considered for a new visa in accordance with the law.

  • A foreign national entering Vietnam must comply with Vietnamese law.

  • Note: Foreign nationals falling under Clauses 1, 2, 3, and 4 of Article 8 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam do not submit an e-visa application themselves. Instead, the inviting or sponsoring agency or organization must send a written visa request to the competent authority of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
