1. Under the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam, foreign nationals who enter, leave, transit or reside in Vietnam have the following rights (see the full wording).
2. Under the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam, foreign nationals who enter, leave, transit or reside in Vietnam have the following obligations:
- Comply with Vietnamese law, and respect the cultural traditions, customs and practices of Vietnam.
- Keep their activities in Vietnam consistent with the purpose they entered for.
- Carry their passport or international travel document and their Vietnamese residence papers while travelling, and present them when a competent authority asks.
- A permanent resident who leaves Vietnam to settle permanently in another country must hand the permanent residence card back to the immigration control unit at the border gate.
- Present the passport or international travel document and the residence papers to the accommodation provider, so that the temporary residence declaration is made as required.
